Natalia Mazur: Co-creating organisational strategy with Scottish Outdoor Education Centres.

Title: Co-creating organisational strategy with Scottish Outdoor Education Centres.

Mission.

Natalia’s final Masters Project at the University of Dundee was focussed on co-creating organisational strategy with Scottish Outdoor Education Centres (SOEC).

SOEC is a Scottish charity and the biggest provider of Outdoor Education in Scotland, working to provide accessible outdoor learning experiences to children and young people.

Natalia Mazur project managed, designed and facilitated the process of re-evaluation and strategic co-creation with the staff and management of the Scottish centres. A service design methodological approach was applied by Natalia during this collaborative innovation project.

Throughout the project Natalia developed many skills and areas of expertise as a service designer and project manager, through facilitating the process of organisational innovation. One of Natalia’s roles was to enable the front line staff within SOEC to use their expertise to build a strategic vision, through a series of co-creative workshops.

As a result of this Masters project, Natalia developed 3 concepts for the strategic growth of this Scottish charity: Set up of a Volunteering Scheme, Low Carbon Strategy and Community Garden and Outdoor Kitchen.

Transformational change for the centres is another outcome of this service design led project and this new thinking culture has been embraced and adopted by the SOEC staff.

Vision.

“Friends of Belmont”, a volunteering scheme established during the project, has now delivered a number of biodiversity and centre improvement projects. SOEC are now in the process of applying for funding to receive support to fully fund and develop the volunteering scheme.

Natalia Mazur is currently looking for fully time employment within the Service and experience design field, both nationally and internationally.

Project Statement: Natalia Mazur project managed, designed and facilitated the process of re-evaluation and strategic co-creation with the staff and management of the Scottish centres.
